Certificate of driving ability: what it is and what it is not
The certificate of driving ability (Fahrtauglichkeitsbescheinigung) for €499 is a medical certificate on your state of health as part of your treatment. It describes how the treating doctor assesses your condition at the time of issue.
The distinction matters particularly for cannabis patients. A treating doctor can produce a certificate of therapy or of driving ability that describes your state of health and his or her medical assessment. The final assessment of fitness to drive under the German Driving Licence Regulation (Fahrerlaubnis-Verordnung, FeV), or an expert report requested by the driving licence authority, is something different and is subject to the rules of the FeV.
Important note: the medical certificate of driving ability serves exclusively to document your current state of health and the medical assessment as part of your treatment. It does not constitute an expert report on fitness to drive or a medical-psychological assessment under the German Driving Licence Regulation (FeV) and does not replace an expert report requested by a driving licence authority or a medical-psychological assessment (MPU).

The medical certificate of driving ability expressly does not cover these points:
- Expert report on fitness to drive under Sections 11 et seq. FeV
- Medical-psychological assessment (MPU)
- Assessment by an authority
- Traffic medicine expert report requested by the driving licence authority
- A legally binding decision on fitness to drive

For carrying your medication within the Schengen area there is the Schengen document in two variants: officially certified for €149.90 and certified in express for €299. Which variant a destination country requires varies. If in doubt, ask in the consultation before booking.

A certificate requires a medical assessment. Without ongoing treatment at Cureal, an initial consultation is therefore needed first. After that a doctor can judge which document can be issued.
The confirmation of therapy costs €100. It is the written evidence of your ongoing therapy. In the booking window this service appears as a medical statement.
The medical statement for €200 contains the medical assessment of your treatment, for example for authorities or employers. It therefore goes beyond simply evidencing your ongoing therapy.

No. The documents are self-pay services, your health insurer does not cover them. The prices are fixed: from €100 for the confirmation of therapy to €499 for the certificate of driving ability.
Every service is booked and invoiced individually. If you need several documents, mention it during the appointment. The doctor will tell you what is possible together in your case.
