Yes. The initial consultation takes place in person at our practice. Follow-up appointments and repeat prescriptions can be held by video consultation, so you do not have to travel to Munich every time.

No. You can book an appointment at Cureal directly, without a prior referral. Existing medical reports or doctor's letters are helpful but are not a requirement.

As a rule you do not need a referral to book an appointment. Existing medical reports, doctor's letters, lab values or a list of your medications do help the doctor with the assessment.

It is best to bring:

Your identity card or passport, medical reports or doctor's letters about your condition (if available), a list of your current medications and, if available, earlier findings from previous cannabis therapies. A referral from a GP is not necessary.

After the medical consultation, your doctor at Cureal issues a private prescription for medical cannabis, provided the medical requirements are met. You can redeem this prescription at any pharmacy in Germany that stocks medical cannabis.

We also work with partner pharmacies that reliably stock medical cannabis. If the medical requirements are met, the doctor can issue a prescription directly after the consultation, and the specific medication, dosage form and dosage are determined individually.

Yes, at Cureal you usually receive an electronic prescription, the e-prescription. It is transferred directly to your electronic health card or provided through the e-prescription app, so you can redeem it at any pharmacy that stocks medical cannabis.

If you do not have a German electronic health card (eGK), or if the technical requirements are not met in an individual case, we will issue you a paper prescription instead, and a suitable prescription form is then discussed together.

The e-prescription applies both to the first prescription after the initial consultation and to a repeat prescription, which can often be issued during a video consultation. This means you do not have to come to the practice in person again for a repeat prescription only.

As a general rule, your doctor starts with a low dose, which is adjusted step by step. This approach is called the titration phase and usually takes a few weeks. The aim is to find the dose at which your symptoms are relieved as well as possible while side effects remain minimal. In follow-up appointments your doctor discusses with you whether the dosage fits or should be adjusted.

Prices depend on the respective consultation. Initial cannabis consultations, GLP-1 advice, longevity checks or other services have different scopes. You see the exact pricing before you complete the booking.

No. The costs are shown before booking. If additional services may be medically sensible, for example lab values or follow-up appointments, that is discussed separately.

Treatment at Cureal is generally on a private prescription and is therefore usually a self-pay service. Private health insurers often reimburse the costs, depending on the individual tariff and contract.

For patients with German statutory insurance, cost coverage is only possible in individual cases, and it depends on the diagnosis, the service chosen and the insurer. Our medical team assesses your personal situation in the initial consultation and answers any open questions about reimbursement.

Regardless of possible reimbursement, you first pay for the initial medical consultation yourself, currently EUR 39.90, and settle with your insurer afterwards if applicable.

Payment is made directly when you book the appointment or at the practice. We accept common payment methods. Invoicing runs through our practice management system.

Depending on the type of appointment, payment is made online during the booking process or according to the payment options stated by the practice. You receive a clear invoice.

Yes, medical cannabis is legal in Germany. It has been available on prescription since 2017 and, since partial legalisation in 2024 under the German Medical Cannabis Act (MedCanG), access has been eased further.

With a valid medical prescription you may legally possess and use medical cannabis, and the prescription is issued by a doctor after a medical assessment of your individual situation. Possession and use under a valid medical prescription are clearly to be distinguished from private recreational use, for which separate legal rules continue to apply.

Yes, with a medical prescription you may in principle drive. Patients with a medical prescription for medical cannabis may take part in road traffic, provided their fitness to drive is not impaired.

Important: you must not drive while acutely under the effect, and you must be able to judge for yourself whether you are fit to drive. Your doctor explains this to you in detail.

A medical prescription does not automatically mean that you are fit to drive at all times, and particular care applies during the dosage phase with its possible side effects. You must not drive if you are impaired, and that applies regardless of the prescription.

As a patient of a practice in private practice with a documented course of therapy, you are in a good legal position in a police check. Cureal documents your treatment completely, including diagnosis, therapy plan and progress.

In the event of a check you can show your prescription and the medical order, which makes the situation verifiable for the officers carrying out the check. On request, our doctors also issue medical certificates and expert statements documenting your therapy. A valid prescription alone does not automatically protect you from every legal consequence, and what matters is that you are genuinely fit to drive.

It helps to have a valid prescription, clear medical documentation and a responsible approach to your medication. A certificate can be useful depending on the situation, but it does not replace an assessment of the individual case.

Cureal provides factual information on medical topics. Promises of a cure, aggressive price advertising or blanket statements about the suitability of a therapy are not appropriate in a medical context.

In March 2026 the Federal Court of Justice ruled (case I ZR 74/25) that advertising medical cannabis therapies to the public falls under the German Medicines Advertising Act (Section 10 HWG) and is therefore prohibited. This mainly affects providers that actively advertised with prices and promotional promises. For you as a patient nothing changes: therapy with medical cannabis remains legal and available. You can continue to inform yourself factually and book an appointment at a practice.

No. A prescription is only issued if it is medically suitable and there are no relevant contraindications. Cureal is not a prescription platform but a medical consultation with a documented decision.

Yes. For organisational questions you can reach Cureal through the contact page. Medical decisions, however, are made in the medical appointment.

For acute or severe symptoms, Cureal is not the right first point of contact. Contact the medical on-call service, an emergency department or, if there are signs of an emergency, the emergency services.
